In this course, we will live code a simple four-page website built using the web framework, Foundation.

Foundation 5 is an open-source framework created by ZURB, a design agency in California. They released the 5.0 version of the product in late 2013 and this course is based on the latest version.

It is one of the more popular frameworks available on the Web today and is absolutely free.

The purpose: Make websites beautiful without a lot of work. This course walks you through some of Foundation's core features that produce beautiful websites with a little effort.

It contains almost all of the CSS styling you will need for a website and a lot of cool jQuery tools to extend your website. It also allows you to make your website responsive so it can be viewed on mobile designs.

This course will walk you through creating a website from scratch using the framework. You do not need to be an expert in HTML or CSS. But if you know the basics, it will take you a long way.

If you do not know the basics, we will create the elements of the website and will answer any questions you have.

Meteor is quite new technology. Version 1.0 was published in October 2014.

You will learn how easy it is to build real-time applications (eg. chat) with MeteorJS. And you will build your own chat application which you can share with the world.

You will practice. A lot. You will create a part of your application almost in every lesson.

Maybe you have some experience with web development, maybe you don't. Meteor is easy to learn for everyone. Because it's JavaScript everywhere (client & server). You can even build mobile applications with Meteor. If you know JavaScript, you will learn Meteor easily.

This course also includes advanced section where you will learn tips & tricks for developing Meteor applications.

Nowadays, it's difficult to find a popular website that doesn't use Javascript and Facebook, Twitter and YouTube are just a few examples of it. If you heard about Java or Javascript but never used it or don't know what you can do with it, this is the right course for you. JavaScript is most commonly used as a client side scripting language. This means that JavaScript code is written into an HTML page. When a user requests an HTML page with JavaScript in it, the script is sent to the browser and it's up to the browser to do something with it.

The fact that the script is in the HTML page means that your scripts can be seen and copied by whoever views your page. Nonetheless, to my mind this openness is a great advantage, because the flip side is that you can view, study and use any JavaScript you encounter on the Word Wide Web.

JavaScript can be used in other contexts than a Web browser. Netscape created server-side JavaScript as a CGI-language that can do roughly the same as Perl or ASP. There is no reason why JavaScript couldn’t be used to write real, complex programs. However, this site exclusively deals with the use of JavaScript in web browsers. If you don’t have any programming experience at all it’s best to start with some gentle JavaScript examples that teach you the basics.

This can be your starting point to create effects on interactive websites. If you are passionate about creating modern web pages, then you can get started here and take your learning to the next level. Please note: basic knowledge of HTML is preferred before starting this course. As mentioned, Javascript codes are typically written within HTML tags. How do designers and engineers come up with great ideas and make them real?

Ideas are a dime a dozen. But taking ideas for new products or inventions from concept to reality requires more than just inspiration. It takes methodical processes--processes that can ensure predicted functional results. It requires, over time, a number of iterations to be modified and fine tuned. In other words, it takes a series of specific steps to turn a good idea into an equally good end product.

Design Thinking is a set of methods used to help analyze and define a potential solution to a problem--a product or new invention--from the perspective of the people who will ultimately use it. Design thinking aims to ensure that, in the process of turning an idea into reality, the end result is actually useful--that it solves the problem it’s trying to solve.

There are a lot viewpoints on Design Thinking. IDEO U, for one, provides a comprehensive set of examples supporting Design Thinking. Before you dive into this course, take a moment to familiarize yourself with IDEO U’s definition and processes related to Design Thinking.
